private teaching in Japan, transportation costs?

Joie Libutti: It is case by case.I never heard paying the private home teacher's transportation costs, because it should be included in your lesson fee in ordinary. I guess the calculation of total payment every month must be hard for the student's family. (I only know the private home teachers in neighbor within a few stations by train.)But if your transportation costs are not negligible compared with 3000 yen, you should discuss with the parents of your student ....Show more

Hal Palowoda: Akita international college is fairly taught in English. It was once a foreign places campus of the college of Minnesota. it fairly is interior the rustic element of Northern Japan. the pupils are a mixture of foreign places pupils and eastern pupils with severe English levels.

Claudio Drullard: It's up to you. It's your business. But I think that the customers would be happier to just get a flat rate. You work transportation costs into your charge. I will clue you int! o something. If your students are kids, they are on their home turf and they will be much harder to control. Myself, all my students come to my house. It has made a huge difference in how the students behave and pay attention. Humans are animals. Animals on their own turf feel in control. I used to go to several places rather than them coming to me. I stopped it. Once they come to me, they are on my turf and they catch on to that fact rather quickly. The down-side is that some students take some time to get used to being away from their parents. So be it. But once they get used to the new environment, it does them good.Bottom line I guess is work your transportation costs into your fee if you are going to going that route....Show more

Glynda Darrin: They want a flat rate so just include it in the price. Everything in Japan is always included in the price even the Tax.I doubt you will be teaching at homes though Japanese people do not invite people over usu! ally, especially people they do not know. Try A cafe. In the! end I pay my own transport fee but I charge less than you but probably have more students as a result, by charging less and including the transportation I make enough to pay my hachiman portion of the rent...I have a lesson in 2 hours in Akihabara, I will meet the student at A cafe, I pay the 150 yen each way. The student is invoiced and it all is paid monthly by bank transfer ahead of time, so if they dont show it is their loss....Show more

Geraldo Mccalla: I teach privately and I do not include that in my fee. But it just depends on what you talk abotu with your students.

Oren Eskelsen: It depends on each case. You can negotiate it with your client. Good luck.
