Donte Hamme: Yes - on both sides of the table. Tuesday evenings - I am a volunteer bingo worker - we are a non-profit community charitable organization & our profits fund our local scholarships, food boxes for needy families & christmas for kids programs, and donations to youth sports programs in our area. I enjoy an occassional trip to gamble at Nevada casinos a couple of times a yr. I dont visit Indian casinos even though they are closer.
Sabra Roers: If you do, what do you usually take? Do you think this custom is still quite prevalent? And if you are the recipient, do you appreciate the food or just the gesture?
Jade Ohno: Everyone used to do that when we lived in the country, in Nebraska. When it was our turn to receive, we appreciated the help. It doesn't seem to be the custom where we are in California.
Brittanie Zakutney: No, I don't gamble ever... I've not been blessed with enough money to waste.
Sammie Bocanegra: Yes, everyone gamble! s in the philippines.. even a lower-class citizen would be seen gambling through a game of cards or cockfighting. Also, theres quite a number of filipinos in Vegas casinos.
Luke Creitz: The last time I gambled (bought lotto tickets) was several months ago, before that I cannot recall when.
Dulcie Edis: Oh, crap! You just reminded me that I forgot to buy my lottery ticket for tonight!(But that is the only gambling I do.)
Estrella Northway: No, I cannot justify gambling away money I receive from Social Security. My fellow citizens provide that money for the usual expenses of living after retirement. It would be wrong to waste that money.
Esteban Lyson: I buy lottery tickets my husband gambles now and then, he won more money on the pennies slot machines then I ever did on the lottery tickets!! lol =)
Hunter Osterberger: Yes,I spend 5.00 on lotto 6/49 every week I never go to casinos or any gambling joints,I feel if I can't throw 5.00 away don'! t gambling with it.
Solomon Belback: I, myself do not re! member. The earliest I can remember was Ellery Queen but I have forgotten who played the part.
Dick Baumgarten: I've played the slots a couple of times and had a set 20 dollar limit - but would usually quit. I'm a "poor loser". It was a waste of time and money. Casinos or any kind of gambling is BORING to me.
Delphine Cajka: I have not yet been in the situation of feeling it necessary to do this for anyone but, if I felt it necessary, I'd ask first if help was required and find out what type of help. Emptying the bins might be of more help to one person and a hot cooked dinner to another. It is not as easy to help a neighbour these days as it used to be. Society has changed and many people are not appreciative of help either because of pride or because it is something that the were not brought up to understand. Those who shun help will probably never think of offering any either.
Buddy Ardd: Boy, you got THAT right! In fact, in a few hours I am going ! up to the Poconos (Mohegan Sun) with a friend. The casino sent her $20 credit. She won $2,500 the other week but for the most part loses everytime. I just sit there and watch. At least half the people in there are elderly...... walkers, wheelchairrs, canes sitting right next to them. Smoking up a storm and sitting for hours! I find it all totally boring! And I wonder what their excuse is when they find they are short when it comes time to pay their rent/utilities/credit card ect....Show more
Rubye Bonnin: This happened in our family recently, and the widow wa so grateful that people cared enough to do that. She had a freezer full of casseroles, which was so helpful to her.I had never thought of it, but I will in future when I saw how well it was received.
Hyman Coren: Man Against Crime (1949-56, CBS, NBC, Dumont) and Martin Kane, Private Eye (1949-54, NBC)
Donte Liversedge: Yep
Brian Freedland: I would take something that could be frozen if they! can't eat it right away. Sometimes people get overwhelmed with food.! Also, about 3 months later I would call or send a call. People will show support and visit at first, but then get back to their own concerns. It is good to know a few months after the event that people still remember and care.
Susan Rambo: Gee, not sure - maybe Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson?Or Ellery Queen?
Particia Thorton: Only one or two times since moving from Las Vegas in 2005. If my husband were still living, we would as often as we felt like driving to Shreveport.
Nikki Sypult: Not lately. I retired from casino work. I know quite a lot about gaming. It does not interest me a lot, even tho I live near 2 different casinoes.Remember, the house always has the advantage
Porfirio Gartland: Yeah, Well people in loss usually don't want to cook anyway so its helpful. You can usually just bring over a dinner thats good for all of them or a couple of things if you can. Usually homemade food is better. Comfort food really. I'd appreciate the fact t! he person cares and the fact I don't have to cook.
Solomon Belback: I buy lottery tickets occasionally, that's it.
Hilma Pestano: No. I play the lottery once in a great while.
Curtis Josef: Adam WestBatman and Robin and the ever faithful butler Alfred Pennyworth 1966 or earlier.I can't remember who played Robin.
Brittney Inabnit: Man Against Crime 1949-1954 Mike Barnet
Delmy Varano: Yes, when someone we know dies we always take food to the family. It is customary to do this here in the south, Back in the day, when the funeral procession was passing, cars pulled off to the side of the road out of respect for the family. Today, even here it is almost rare. The new generation I guess.
Esteban Lyson: I remember Perry Mason and the private detective but not the name of the character or actor.
Demetrius Coaster: William Gargan-Martin Kane Private Eye 1949 NBC TV
Carter Edstrom: Because questions from seniors in high school are m! ixed up with senior people(Old People)
Alvaro Oare: I have, in so! me cases, I have taken a turkey or a ham. You can go to "Heavenly Ham" and get a smoked turkey or a ham, and drop it off for them. No cooking is required that way.
Cherry Stampka: No unless you count an occasional lottery ticket.
King Bringle: I might be wrong on 2 counts here, my spelling and if it was first, but was it Maigrae? I remember watching that as a child in the 50's
Ronnie Barcus: Did they have a sidekick? Who played the sidekick?
Clementina Collelo: I take disposable cups, napkins, TP, a pound of coffee, and a tin of homemade cookies or I wait until a week or so later, then I call them if possible and drop by with some baked goods. Sometimes it's such a letdown after so much company and confusion all crammed into the first week. They need time to reflect for a few days. After that, it's good to just sit and talk over coffee with a friend.
Vern Serratos: I normally gamble online and play the slots a bit. My lucks out at the minute! p>
Lahoma Beadell: No, I am a true child of the 60's and can honestly say that I hardly ever met a vice I didn't like....but have always been so thankful that just never liked gambling. Don't like gambling...and don't see how anyone could stand to be in a casino for longer than five minutes. Went to one once with a friend and thought it was the most appalling attack on all the senses....Show more
Sabra Roers: You could go under "ABOUT" and use the "Suggestion Board" and tell them how you feel.
Shandi Wedge: I remember a show calls "Burke's Law" from the early sixties where he was a millionare detective who had help from a female detective name "Honey West" who was played by Anne Frances.
Inge Mclaurine: I did purchase some scratch-off lottery tickets not too long ago. Only ones I got for several years...
Renay Billiar: Honestly yeah last month and I love it! I take 50$ and I enjoy it far more than the movies or going out with friends.I know! people who go on cruises.justify that? At least I do not smoke or drin! k so I am not doing that and I may make some money back. You cannot win if you don't play and right now everyone is poor anyway.Whats the difference? I have 5 pair of shoes. My house is not full of junk from yard sales which are a waste too.Theres lots of ways to waste money.video games are a waste of money too....Show more
Hong Hunkin: Richard Diamond = David Jansen. Don't remember a sidekick.
Ira Porietis: Eliot Ness?First I remember clearly was maybe Mannix. Though as others answer I will probably get some Aha moments and the fog will clear.
Randal Deyarmond: I have such a miniscule appetite for gambling that one lottery ticket every few months is enough to give me a thrill. And of course I always lose, but even then I like it that they tell me that I'm doing a charitable thing for some worthy government purpose. Not that I actually believe it. I think the money probably winds up in the pockiet of some crooked politicians or being squandered on some absur! d pork-barrel project--but at least they told me it for for a noble cause....Show more
Gaynell Pizzaro: Tonight I spent $2 on lotto tickets.
Elfreda Grossen: My sister lost her husband, kids and house to a gambling addiction. I haven't seen her since 2001 and nobody knows where she is, including her kids. We know she's alive, though. I used to gamble quite a bit, played poker with the gals during my 20's and 30's. I've gone to the casino a few times. Now I live within a half an hour of an Indian casino, and I haven't been there once since I lived here. I kind of lost my taste for it, I guess. We will buy an occasional lottery ticket, the scratch off kind, and Ed more than me. But that's about it. To me, you might as well throw your money into the toilet; it's a lot quicker....Show more
