Kizzy Hett: 1-yes....probably higher2-I believe it is the Bush/Saudi connection and the 3 trillion dollar cost of the war in Iraq3-It would require natilization of the oil industry like Venizuela has.....that is not what America does4-it would be expensive and there isn't that much around and it will cause a rise in cooking oil...
Marty Tichnell: Open QuestionShow me another » Questions on Fuel and Economy?1. Will gas reach $7.00 per gallon this year? Most unlikely. It may be higher than the current price but $7 is low probabilty.2. Could we say that it is "Corporate Oil Inustries" not Democrats or Republicans that are 'Choking" our economy? That would not be informed and educated rational view or conclusion. Oil prices are rising because of demand and supply mismatches. Higher prices are telling people to reduce their consumption. The emerging fast growing countries are not doing that and are paying very high cost for this. The US should not follow these countries a! nd try to reduce her dependence on imported oil.3. Why doesn't this country subsidize it's oil like the government of Mexico?Subsidizing oil consumption may be the most harmful way of trying to solve the problem: subsidizing will only encourage petrolium consumption growth and increase the dependence of US on imported oil. Mexico, India, China do such subsidization. But economic calculations shows tha they are wrong policies. If at all some firm of rationing can be introduced, so that lower income groups can get some oil at lower than the market price while the rich pays much hogher price when they consume more than the rationed quota.4. Do "Cooking Oil" fueled vehicles really work and if so how many miles per gallon do they get? Most unlikely. Much more technological developmwents have to take place. Hybrid models will become more popular. Electric vehicles may also become an good alternative....Show more
Blaine Connett: 1. Will gas reach $7.00 per gallon this year? N! ot likely2. Could we say that it is "Corporate Oil Inustries" ! not Democrats or Republicans that are 'Choking" our economy? You could say it but it isn't correct. Corporatios are not choking our economy. Democrats are choking the oil "corporations" and making finding oil less profitable and thus limiting the supply. Anybody that knows anything about economics or common sense knows that limiting the supply increases the cost. 3. Why doesn't this country subsidize it's oil like the government of Mexico? Subsidizing a commodity doesn't make it any cheaper. That is pie in the sky thinking. China subsidized its oil and as a result the demand spiked higher even though the increasing price should have resulted in decreasing demand. By interfering with the market, the government can only cause problems. 4. Do "Cooking Oil" fueled vehicles really work and if so how many miles per gallon do they get? Yes. They are comparable to diesel. Obviously a Volkswagen rabbit on diesel get more per gallon than a fully loaded 18-wheeler....Show m! ore
