Can a renting agent refuse to pay the landlord if the tenant hasn't pay?

Saran Stealy: If there is a rental agreement in place, the tenant pays the rent, then the agent turns that over to the landlord. Are you talking about a rental fee ?

Valentine Willinger: I think the agent SHOULD refuse it the tenant doesn't pay. it is nopt the agents resposibilty to pay someone dodge tenants missing money. that just gives the tenant a free ride. kick them out I say

Todd Stogner: I assume you mean that you have a property manager who collects rent for you and a tenant hasn't paid. In which case, the property manager does not have the rent to forward to you - so there is nothing to pay. The property manager does not have to "front" the tenant's rent, only pass it on when it gets collected.

Bell Pasco: unless the agreement between the landlord and agent includes an undertaking that the agent will underwrite all rents ....I would say, yes the agent can refuse to hand over what he does not havepresumably the agent is doing their job by lea! ning on the tenantwhat else can be done?...Show more

Kaley Lappas: yes, now you have to get your money or start the eviction process through the renting agent whom by the way needs to be fired.

George Dingeldein: Do you mean a property manager? If they collect rent, and the rent isn't paid, then there is nothing to pay to the LL.You would have ot read yoru contract with your property management firm, but there is no way they assume liability for a tenant's unpaid rent.

Raul Lushbaugh: A renting agent work on behalf of the landlord, and is paid based on the rent collected from the tenant. If the tenant fail to pay the rent the renting agent is not responsible to pay the rent to the landlord. It would be the responsibility of the renting agent to evict the current tenant according the eviction laws of the state in which you reside.I hope this has been of some benefit to you, good luck."FIGHT ON"...Show more
